Midland Art Crawl returns Friday with Desert in Bloom theme


Midland will burst into color Friday afternoon as the Art Crawl returns with a Desert in Bloom theme, inviting guests to visit five venues, explore the local art scene, and discover local artists.

The Midland Art Crawl returns to the Tall City each quarter, celebrating the local art scene and offering visitors an immersive art experience.

Desert in Bloom will be hosted at five different venues, with featured artists at each stop.

Each participating venue will also offer activities, ranging from building a flower bouquet to a singer-songwriter open mic event.

There will also be food and beverage options available.

The Desert in Bloom Art Crawl is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on Friday. The event is free and open to the public.

There is no set order for visiting the venues, so guests can create their own experience.

Here are some highlights of Friday’s event.

Palette Club

The Palette Club will feature the Arts of the Heart show and sale. There will be live music and complimentary refreshments. The venue is family-friendly, and visitors are encouraged to dress for the theme.

The Palette Club is located at 907 W. Wadley Ave. The venue will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Waystone Brewery

The Waystone will be offering a free potting bar for guests, with all supplies provided from seed to pot.

Pizza delivery service from Venezia Restaurant will be available. Guests will also be able to order the Cactus Calamity sparkling mocktail.

The venue is family-friendly and dog-friendly. Visitors are encouraged to dress for the theme.

The Waystone is located at 2101 W. Wadley Ave., Suite 27. The venue will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The FaFa Gallery

The FaFa Gallery will feature the “Life & Work of Scott Tandberg” exhibition. The venue also will feature an exhibit from the live art contest held April 11 and announce the winners.

Guests will be able to enjoy an Oreo cookie bar and complimentary non-alcoholic and adult refreshments.

The venue is family-friendly, and visitors can interact with the gallery cat.

The FaFa Gallery is located at 438 Andrews Highway and will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Cotton Flat Records

Cotton Flat Records will feature a singer/songwriter open microphone event for local performers. Sign-ups start at 6 p.m., with the first performance set for 7 p.m.

Guests will be able to order beer or craft soda on tap. Dirty Grinders will be onsite, providing food options for guests.

The venue is family-friendly. Visitors are encouraged to dress for the theme.

Cotton Flat Records is located at 1402 Cotton Flat Road. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the venue will remain open late.

The Blue Door

The Blue Door will offer several activities for guests such as painting your own mini cactus pot and building your own bouquet with Innerbloom Flower Bar.

The bar will offer special themed drinks such as the Desert in Bloom Prickly Pear cocktail/mocktail.

The venue is open to adults 21 and older, and the patio is dog friendly. Guests are encouraged to dress for the theme.

The Blue Door is located at 4610 N. Garfield, Suite D-1C. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the venue will remain open late.
