Dark Arts Crawl: A Night of Unconventional Creativity

Join us for an enchanting evening of art, food, and magic at the Dark Arts Crawl, happening on September 12th from 6-9 PM. Experience Midland's vibrant art scene as you explore five unique venues, each offering its own take on the darker side of creativity:

• The Blue Door (21+): Step into a surreal world of avant-garde expression. Enjoy themed cocktails that perfectly complement the art, making your visit a sensory experience like no other.

• The FaFa Gallery: Dive into thought-provoking installations and mixed-media works while enjoying complimentary refreshments and exploring the Midland Arts Association Fall Show in conjunction with the Dark Arts Crawl.

• The Waystone Brewery & Board Games: Step into a wizarding world where magic meets craft beer and board games. Experience an evening of enchantment as you explore art and enjoy the immersive atmosphere created just for the Dark Arts Crawl.

• Cotton Flat Records: Immerse yourself in the fusion of music and visual art. Sip on your favorite beverage and let the sounds and sights transport you to a different world.

Every venue will have food and drink available, either complimentary or for purchase, so you can savor the evening without missing a beat. The event is family-friendly, with many stops welcoming your four-legged friends as well. Whether you decide to explore all the unique offerings at each venue or choose a few favorites to make a night of it, the Dark Arts Crawl promises an evening of inspiration, intrigue, and unforgettable experiences.

Join us for an evening at The Blue Door to learn about how you can become a part of the Midland Art Crawl.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of the lively arts community in Midland, meet new people, get to know local business owners and artists, as well as get out of the house for a fun and unique volunteer experience in Midland.

*Please note: The Blue Door does also have non-alcoholic beverages; however, you must be 21+ to attend.

What does a volunteer with the art crawl do?

Volunteers with the Midland Art Crawl help manage venues during the art crawl by liaising with the venue owner (local business or organization). This entails day-of coordination of the onsite artists, answering questions from art crawlers, directing art crawlers to the resources to have a successful crawl, tracking foot traffic of your venue, and taking notes on the events (as needed).

What does the time commitment look like?

We typically have one 30-minute meeting the week of the quarterly, citywide crawl (first Friday of March, June, September, and December) to answer any questions that you may have, provide information on the event specifics for that particular crawl, provide you with materials to bring to your venue and to provide you with a shirt so you’re easy to pick out.
